Heroes to Heroes Journey to Israel – Day 5

Shabbat, a day in Israel where things slow down, no work is done, and people take the time to enjoy their families. Religious Jews all over the world observe Shabbat, taking time off from everything and spending time with family and friends at home and in Synagogue.

The Heroes to Heroes team took part in a traditional Shabbat dinner and spent the day at the beach and in the sea and relaxing on the Kibbutz. It was a time to reflect on all we had seen and done.

A highlight was a birthday cake for Danny from West Virginia. We celebrated his birthday with a cake, singing, and an interesting lecture by Daniel, our guide. Daniel gave the history of the ‘map of Israel’ and shared his experiences in the recent war. Having been stationed in both Gaza and the West Bank, he had much to share.
